MPDPA

• Setting up a company called Bersatu Dental Supplies (BDS) to control the escalating monopoly price of dental materials and the decision to purchase cheaper dental materials for Private Practitioners.

• Organizing Continuing Dental Education/Development seminars for their members, most notably the annual CPD Blockbuster series and the Annual Scientific Congress. These events featured various International and Regional Academicians and Clinical Experts in the field of Dentistry. From time to time, seminars on personal development such as accounting, grooming, insurance and photography were also organised. Alongside with these events, Dental Trade Exhibitions were also organised to provide a platform for Dental Trade Companies to promote and highlight their products.

• The Annual Dental Surgery Assistant Congress is the only event of its kind organised by MPDPA to provide continuous dental education for our DSAs and Receptionists. Our DSA Congress often receive overwhelming participation from both Private and Government DSAs, and even some from Brunei.

• Publishing the official MPDPS newsletter, Probe Magazine.

• In 1989, MPDPS Logo Competition was carried out and the present logo was selected to represent the society.

• In 1990, Dr.Patmanathan initiated and organised the Biannual Presidents’ Ball Dinner, an event to honor MPDPS Past And Present Presidents.

• Organizing the Biannual MPDPS Treasure Hunt an event to pit the skills of our members, family and friends in a vehicular–based fun hunt around town.

• Publishing the one-of-its-kind Annual Clinical Appointment Book to assist our members in effective and efficient appointment scheduling.

• In 2000, This society was renamed MPDPA ( Malaysian Private Dental Practitioners’ Association) during Dr.Wong Foot Meow’s tenure as President. This thus reflects in the growing membership and stature of this prestigious Association.

• Early 2004, MPDPA established its own Secretariat with a full time staff to assist in the administration and running of the association.

• In 2004 we also hosted an International event collaborating with FDI, MDA and WDES.

• The founding members of MPDPS can be justly proud of their foresight and progress this society has made over the years. With the continuous growth in membership, MPDPA continues to strive, while enhancing the quality and scope of its activities for Private Practitioners’ and as well for their members in benefit.
